This past week my ten year old son had to write a fictional story about Martians who come to our town and landed near their school. I thought he did such a wonderful job and in all of my glowing pride I have decided I am going to share his story with all of you.....yes, I helped him along here and there (parents were allowed too!!)...Regardless of that small detail, the story is all his idea and he even came up with the conversation pieces. Dad just urged him along here and there to keep the story going. Enjoy!!

Once a year I write each my boys letters on their birthday. I place the letter in a card and then place the card in their memory box. My hope is one day they will sit down and actually read a birthday card for a change and be able to understand how proud I am to be their father.
I thought you might like to take a break from the all out nonsense which is usually on this site and share in a letter I wrote to my youngest son (who is now 6) on his second birthday....

Originally penned in 1994 Unchanged and unedited since 1994
A late and cold desert night, my new fiancé and I arrived in the small California town of Ridgecrest. The town lifeless for the night, we drove through the lonely streets uninterrupted by traffic, not saying a word. We had been on the road for twelve hours and we had grown tired of the senseless bantering all couples seem to go through on long trips. Being the first trip of such length neither of us had expected the tension and silence that had accompanied us.
