About the No bake Cookies...

Sounds Good. I will have to try it for my own children. Thanks!

Grace writes...

You've just saved me (and cost the bakery around the corner) about $0.79 a day. I made these as a teenager, many years ago, and had forgotten the recipe. I rediscovered them a few months ago when I ducked into the bakery to get out of the rain at the busstop. There they were! I don't ride the bus that often, but you can bet that I still step into that bakery every time I do and grab one of those cookies. And no, I never told my kids about them because I wasn't sharing...Now, I can just make them some. You may have even saved a mother/child relationship. You should consider yourself a god or something. And I should just take my cookie worship back to someplace private.

Next we'll be seeing you on the cooking channel. Boy am I hungry...and I just ate! Your recipe sounds great...nothing like a home cooked meal.

What Jamie said about the Oatmeal No Bake cookies...

I love this recipe! My mom use to make them for us too. I now substitute rice crisps for the oats, as I am allergic. They are still great!
rDad's Tasty Turd Balls (i.e. No Bake Cookies)

The first time I made these cookies for my boys the just stared at the things and swore they would never eat them.  While I certainly agreed with their initial reaction which went something like this...

"No way Nana made those things for you and Aunt Chelsie when you were kids!"
"Yeah Dad, no way."
"Those things look like turd balls."
"Yeah, turd balls."

That being said I was finally able to get my tiny heathens to actually taste of the 'turd balls' and then ensured the other boys that the turd balls were in fact delicious cookies all was well.  Now my boys ask for these things just about every weekend.

The prep time is very low and the mess is minimal....
What'cha need:
  • 6 tbsp. of cocoa
  • 2 cups sugar (I started using the Splenda Baking Sugar and it works fine)
  • 1 stick butter (or margarine)
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 3 cups oatmeal
  • 3/4 cup peanut butter
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • Sheet of waxed paper

What to do:

  1. First combine sugar, cocoa, milk and butter in a medium saucepan.
  2. Next, cook the mixture over medium heat until it comes to a boil.
  3. Let the mixture boil for about 1 minute.
  4. Now remove the mixture from heat and immediately add the oatmeal, peanut butter, and vanilla.
  5. Stir the mixture well and drop by spoonfuls onto waxed paper.

Let cool and serve!

Good luck and good eating!!
